Customizing Owned Link Thumbnails in Facebook Posts
Override the automatically generated preview that appears when sharing a link from a website you own, by customizing the image, title, and description. Follow these steps to do so:
Note: Before getting started, to edit link thumbnails you must verify your domain in Meta Business Suite and Business Manager.
Click the Engage drop-down in the right-hand navigation bar
Select Publish
Click Create
Select Post
Select the Facebook page that has verified the domain the link belongs to
Navigate to the Facebook composer tab
Note: If the Facebook page you select has not verified the domain you will be prompted to verify it and will not be able to edit the link preview (see image below). Additionally, if you select multiple Facebook pages—including the verified domain owner and others that are not verified—you can still edit the preview. However, the post will only publish successfully for the page that owns the verified domain; it will fail for unverified pages.
Enter your post text in the compose box
Add your URL
Note: A link thumbnail will automatically generate.
Hover over the thumbnail
Click Edit
Customize the title and description to align with your messaging
Edit the thumbnail by clicking the + icon
Upload a new image
Click Save link
The Post preview and thumbnail will now update to reflect your changes
Optional: To hide the hyperlink from your post, delete it from the text box after the preview is generated. To hide the preview, click the X icon on the thumbnail.
Note: If you are creating a cross-channel post that contains the link, the edits you make on the Facebook compose tab will not be reflected in the general or other channel tabs.

Customizing Your Facebook Audience

When composing a social post, including Facebook:
Within the post, navigate to Facebook Audience Restrictions
Select Add Restrictions
The restriction options include
Age - The age options available from Facebook's API can be chosen from. Only one age minimum can be applied per post.
Country
Region
City
When all restrictions have been selected, select Apply
Audience Restrictions can then be reviewed. Select the pencil icon to make edits, and select the X icon to remove all restrictions.
Note: Selecting a conflicting country, region, or city will clear your previous selection. For example, if you have selected the United States under country and try to add California under region, it will clear the United States country selection.
Boosting Your Facebook Posts
You can boost published Facebook posts via a connected Facebook ads account directly from Engage. Before boosting your posts, you need to have at least one of your Facebook Ads accounts connected. Learn more about Connecting your Ads Manager Account in Engage.
To boost a Facebook post, follow these steps:
Click the Engage drop-down in the left-hand navigation bar
Select Publish
Find and click on an already-published Facebook post
At the bottom of the post preview to the left, select Boost post
Note: If the Boost post button is disabled (greyed out), that post is not eligible for boosting. There are three reasons why a post may not be eligible for boosting - tied to more than one Facebook account, not published from within Meltwater, already in a boosted state.
Fill in all required fields
Note: You may boost a Facebook post more than once. However, you cannot boost a Facebook post until its current boost time has finished.
