To access the Facebook & Instagram Paid Performance template in Social Analytics (and the ability to engage with dark posts, coming soon!) you will first need to connect your Ads Manager accounts. These connections do not count against the total number of owned or competitor social connections purchased.

It is important to note that Ads Manager accounts can be used for both Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts. One Ads Manager account can be used for multiple Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts. Additionally, multiple Ads Manager accounts can have access to the same Facebook Pages or Instagram accounts.

This article will cover:

Prerequisites

Before connecting your Ads Manager account(s), you first need to connect your owned Facebook and or Instagram accounts. Learn more about Connecting Your Owned Social Accounts.

Connecting Ads Manager

Follow these steps to connect Ads Manager:

  1. Click the Account drop-down

  2. Select Social Accounts

  3. Click Paid Connections at the top of your screen

  4. Select Add Account

  5. All available Ads Manager accounts associated with the connected Facebook Pages or Instagram accounts will be displayed. Select which accounts you would like to authenticate in Engage

  6. Your Ads Manager account will need to be authenticated every 60 days.

If the associated Facebook Page becomes disconnected from Engage, the Ads Manager connections will also disconnect. When reauthenticating an Ads Manager account, all paid accounts connected by that user will also be reauthenticated. For example, if you connect 3 different Ads Manager accounts and refresh just one of the accounts after 60 days, all 3 will be refreshed.

The Paid tab is visible to all users on an account, and you do not need an Engage user seat to access it. You will also not need to be assigned to a paid account and will be able to see all paid accounts in the account picker when using the Social Analytics Paid Performance template.

Both Administrators and Listeners have the ability to add, remove, and reconnect Ads Accounts.

Troubleshooting

How can I see details of which Facebook users, Facebook pages, and Instagram profiles are associated with my ad account(s)?

  1. Identify the user who is a Business Admin on the Facebook page

  2. Have the user log in and navigate to Facebook Business settings - https://business.facebook.com/settings

  3. Select the appropriate account or accounts under Business Settings at the top of the page. An account can include multiple assets like Facebook pages and Instagram profiles.

  4. Click Accounts

  5. Select Ad Accounts

  6. This will show you all of the ad accounts that have permissions to manage ads for the selected account.

  7. Clicking through on the ad account will show you the people who have access to the ad account. Clicking the dropdown menu next to the person will show you their permissions for the ad account

Why is my ad account missing when attempting to connect to Meltwater in Social Connections → Paid?

  1. Connect your Facebook Page or Instagram account under Owned Connections (the owned social account should be connected before proceeding to paid)
