When journalists or other media contacts change jobs, move to a new location, or even get married - no doubt that information is important to ensuring your relationship can be maintained in a thoughtful way. Simply congratulating them on the life event or taking note can make the difference in the success of your next engagement.
Meltwater offers an alerting solution for when important information is updated for contacts on your media lists. This article will cover how to set up these alerts.

Turning on the Contact updates alert
To turn on this alert, follow these steps:
Navigate and log in to Meltwater
In the left-hand navigation, click Media Relations | Media Lists
In the toolbar, click the Contact update alerts dropdown menu
Toggle the selection to 'Send me contact updates'
Later, you can also in the left-hand navigation, click on Alerts
Click on Your name's system alerts
Click on Contact updates alert in the table
Toggle on or off your delivery methods for email.
💡 Note: Within the System Alerts page, you can also choose to configure alerts to be delivered in your Slack or Microsoft Teams workspaces.
How does the alert appear?
Twice a month, Meltwater will deliver to you an email that details the quantity of contacts across the quantity of your media lists that have had important updates made to their contact profile within Meltwater.
In the following illustrative example, this user has two contacts that were updated across five media lists in the prior two weeks.
You can navigate directly to Media Relations Media Lists by clicking the aqua button. Alternatively, you can open the respective contact's profile by clicking on "Open Contact Profile"
Once you navigate to any contact profile that has been updated in the previous 2 weeks, you will see the updated fields highlighted in yellow.
If within the Meltwater App, you will also see the notification in your Alerts. Clicking on the alert will display the applicable updates.
How does the alert work?
The alerts are generated based on whether public contacts on your media lists have had meaningful updates made to their profiles in the prior two weeks. A meaningful update includes updates on the person's name, source, title, location, or contact information.
