Introducing a customizable earned media report with AI-powered summarization and the ability to verify, modify, or delete content directly in the report. The PR Insight Report experience allows for easy export into your preferred reporting format. Create reports based on a campaign or an issue by powering your report on searches or tags.

Use the Comparative Template option to report on companies, people, or messages in your media landscape.

Note: In order to access the Comparative template, you need to have access to the current Insight Reports.

What's the value?

Reporting is often a manual and time-intensive process, and looming deadlines and a demanding audience add pressure and stress. Time spent on reporting is time not spent on strategy and working with the media. To help you get back to what matters, we’ve built a new solution that lets you create dynamic, earned media reports aided by AI to compile, narrate, and share reports efficiently with your stakeholders.

With our upgraded Insight Reports and Comparative Template, you can create reports that demonstrate the ROI of PR efforts or compare them to others in your landscape in just a few minutes. Simply add coverage from a search or a tag to generate a report. Easily apply edits to make it your own deliverable that you can share with your stakeholders.

  • Streamlined Coverage Curation: You can now discover, sort, hide, and modify earned media coverage without leaving the reporting workflow. This makes it easier to eliminate irrelevant coverage and present accurate results you want to highlight to your stakeholders.

  • Preferred Downloading Options: Downloading Insight Reports to your preferred format has never been easier. You no longer need to take screenshots and manually combine them with your master presentations. Download options include Google Slides, PowerPoint, PDF, and a dynamic report link.

  • Sentiment analysis (AI-powered summarization): Automatically highlight key themes that drove your positive and negative coverage. Sentiment Analysis shows examples of aggregated terms, news, competitors, and industry insights in each sentiment category.

  • Data-rich reports you don’t have to dread building, and stakeholders look forward to reading. With the ability to modify text directly in the slide to highlight key messages, you can now easily let your own tone and style be reflected in the reports generated in Meltwater.


PR Insight Report

  1. Navigate to Reports in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Insight Reports.



    When you visit the Insight Reports landing page for the first time, you will have the option to create a new report, learn about PR Insight Reports, see a Sample Report, or return to the previous version of PR Insight Reports.



    Previously created reports will be discoverable after you return to the landing page.

  3. Select Create Report on the top right of the page, or modify an existing report. You can modify the title, select report inputs (including a search or a tag) and date range.

  4. Modify the title, select report inputs and date range.

  5. Add a background image, logo, and intro slide title.

  6. Customize the order of the slides, remove any irrelevant slides if needed, and even edit text in-line.


    You can engage with the charts to cleanse (verify and remove) the coverage to ensure accuracy.

  7. If you would like to add additional slides, click Add slides and select from the list of Insights

  8. Select Add. The slide has now been added and can be edited as needed. Full list of insights can be viewed here.

  9. Next, click Export in the top right of the page for a one-time export

  10. Select your format (Powerpoint, PDF, Google Slides, or an interactive link.)


Available Insights for the PR Insight Report

Cover Slide:

Enhance your presentation by including a customized cover page to clearly divide different sections within your report. Include your brand image, a logo and section title.

Executive Summary:

This slide is an automated summary of the highlights from your report. Results of this slide will vary depending on which metrics and slides you decide to include in your report. (This slide can not be duplicated).

Optional Summary Slide:

Include a custom summary slide that captures an overview of the main points from your report. Additionally this slide could also be used as a general text-based slide.

Share of Voice by Reach:

Show a comparison of share of voice between your brand and selected competitors based upon the reach of publications.

Share of Voice by Mentions:

Show a comparison of share of voice between your brand and selected competitors based upon the volume of mentions.

Media Mentions:

Display your brand’s media mentions by showing the volume of mentions vs. reach over time and the top publications with the most mentions. A Sentiment breakdown is also available as an option.

Mentions by Media Type:

Shows a breakdown of earned media by Media Type. Media Types include TV, Radio, Online News, and Print.

Competitive Media Mentions:

Compare the volume of earned media mentions between your brand and selected competitors over time.

Top Publications:

Display a list of the top publications with the most mentions of your brand by volume or reach.

Top Journalists:

Display a list of the top journalists with the most articles matching your brand by volume or reach.

Sentiment:

Display the overall tone of mentions about your brand by showing the sentiment breakdown for mentions and how it trends over time. This slide also highlights articles with the most impact by reach.

Social Media Mentions:

Display your brand’s total mentions by showing the volume vs. reach over time and by the top social channels with the most mentions. A Sentiment breakdown is also available as an option.

Competitive Social Media Mentions:

Compare the volume of your brand’s social media mentions in relation to competitors with a breakdown of the share of voice and social channel mentions. A Sentiment breakdown is also available as an option.

Top Social Posts:

Highlight the most impactful social posts with the highest engagement that mentions your brand. This slide also allows you to highlight the posts you want to give extra attention to. By default, it showcases the top 8 social posts sorted by Engagement.

Coverage by Region:

Display the local distribution of the earned media mentions for your brand. (Limited to these countries: USA, Canada, Germany, France, Brazil, Australia and Sweden.)

Coverage by Country:

Display the global distribution of the earned media mentions for your brand.

Broadcast Mentions:

Showcase the number of broadcast mentions that your brand has trended over time by displaying its mentions by volume, top stations and the overall sentiment.

Print Mentions:

Showcase the number of print mentions that your brand has trended over time by displaying its mentions by volume, top publications and the overall sentiment.

AVE:

Display the monetary value of your brand’s media coverage by using AVE to estimate and highlight the amount of revenue attributed to an article.

Top Articles:

Highlight the articles with the highest reach that mention your brand. This slide also allows you to highlight the articles you want to give extra attention to.

Social Echo:

Display the percentage breakdown of your brand's social shares across various channels and highlight the most shared articles to provide insight into your social media performance.

Top Languages:

Display the top languages that most frequently mentions your brand.

Top Keywords:

Show the keywords and phrases that appear most often in mentions across your brand. This helps to provide an overview of the key themes within the coverage.

M Score:

Display the breakdown of your brand’s mScore, or in relation to competitors. mScore is a unique measurement developed by Meltwater to understand perception of your brand over time giving equal weight to volume, reach, and sentiment.

M Score Position:

View the position of your brand’s mScore, or in relation to competitors. This slide provides a way to visualize how the varying degrees of sentiment vs. mentions can affect the mScore.

Key Messages:

Get insight on the frequency of key messages you have supplied for your brand , or in relation to competitors. These words or phrases are cross-referenced with the selected searches to see how many times each phrase was mentioned.

Table of Contents:

Provide an overview of your presentation by adding an auto-generated Table of contents which are based on the summary panel titles of the slides you’ve included in the report.

AI-Powered Theme Analysis:

The theme analysis slide categorizes the top 100 articles sorted by reach into up to 5 themes, displayed in a pie chart.


Comparative Template

While the PR Insight Report is useful for reporting on your own brand against a competitor, the Comparative report makes it easy to benchmark multiple searches or tags without a primary main brand focus. To use he Comparative Template, follow these below steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Insight Reports

  3. Click Create Report

  4. Click Comparative Report

  5. Select at least two searches or tags you want to compare

  6. Modify the title, select report inputs and date range.

  7. Add a background image, logo, and intro slide title.

  8. Customize the order of the slides, remove any irrelevant slides if needed, and even edit text in-line.

  9. If you would like to add additional slides, click Add slides and select from the list of Insights

  10. Select Add. The slide has now been added and can be edited as needed.

  11. Next, click Export in the top right of the page for a one-time export

  12. Select your format (PowerPoint, PDF, Google Slides, or an interactive link.)


Available Insights for the Comparative Template

Once your report has been generated, the searches will be summarized in an Executive Summary, and then compared across Reach/Estimated Views, Mentions, and mScore.

After the set of comparison slides, each input is analyzed separately across mentions, sentiment, top publications and coverage by country. View an Example of the Comparative Template.


FAQ

What templates are available?

The PR report template is the first template available. More templates are planned.

Can the reports be translated?

We're working on improving the translation quality. While the report can be created in the 13 languages in Meltwater, the translation quality will not be 100%. Please file a support ticket with screenshots and suggestions as necessary. Use your editorial review when sharing these reports in languages other than English.
