Understanding the Sources Tab

Regardless of the type of publication you’re interested in, Sources is the best place to check if Meltwater monitors in. Use Sources to quickly find out if specific outlets are included in Meltwater’s global content database.

In Sources you can:

  • Search by site name in the Search Bar or URL to see if a source is covered.

  • Use My Sources to create and organize custom source lists for monitoring or filtering.

  • Create Segments to build filters to group outlets by region, format, type, or custom needs.

  • Upload a bulk list of sources to check or manage at once by selecting Import a File.

Using the Sources Tab

Searching for a Source

To search for a source, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Account drop-down in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Sources

  3. Use the search bar at the top of the page to enter the URL or publication name you’re looking for.

  4. You’ll instantly see if that source is included in Meltwater’s database.

Reviewing Your Results

After you search for a source, here is what to look for:

  • Name & URL: Confirms the publication/site.

  • Status: “Active” means it’s available in your package.

  • Package: Some sources may require an add-on to access.

  • Outlet Type & Format: Helps you understand what type of content it is (e.g. online, print, general news, etc.)
