Tagging Content in Meltwater

Group and save your content from Explore or Monitor into folders for easy access.

Discover the power of organization with Meltwater! Tags play a crucial role in streamlining your experience with our media monitoring and social listening. They help you structure and organize relevant content and subsequently use it to create earned media reports and dashboards for analysis, or curate and share content with stakeholders through newsletters or newsfeeds.

Requirements

You will need to have already created at least one Explore search to tag and organize content being pulled into your Meltwater account.


Creating Tags

To Create a new Tag follow the below steps

  1. Go to the Content drop-down on the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Tags

  3. Select the purple Create tag button in the top right-hand corner

  4. Enter the name for this tag

  5. Click Create


Tagging Content in Explore

When reviewing your Explore search results, you can tag articles that you want to use at a later date or in a dashboard, report, newsletter, or newsfeed. To tag articles while in an Explore search, follow the below steps

  1. Navigate to Explore in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select a Search

  3. Hover over the article you want to tag in the Content Stream

  4. Select the Tag icon

  5. Select Create Tag or add to an existing tag

  6. Enter tag name if you are creating a new tag

  7. Click Save

  8. Click Apply

Note: You can also add an article to an existing tag by selecting the check box next to the tag name


Tagging Content in Monitor

  1. Navigate to Monitor in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Hover over the article you want to tag in the Content Stream

  3. Select the Tag icon

  4. Select Create Tag or add to an existing tag

  5. Enter tag name if you are creating a new tag

  6. Click Save

  7. Click Apply


Locating Your Tags in Meltwater

To locate where all tags live, follow the below steps

  1. Select the Content drop-down

  2. Click Tags

  3. Here you will find all existing tags


Viewing Content in Your Tags

To view the content in your tags, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Content drop-down

  2. Click Tags

  3. Select the title of the tag

  4. You will then be taken to the Monitor tab with the view of that specific Tag and the content in it


Deleting Your Tags

If you no longer need a tag, follow the below steps to delete it

  1. Select the Content drop-down

  2. Click Tags

  3. Hover over the tag you want to delete

  4. Click the Trash icon on the far right-hand side

Note: If you delete a tag that is used (e.g. for a dashboard) the tagged content will no longer be visible in the widgets the tag was applied to.
