There are three different types of social accounts you can connect in Meltwater: Monitored, Owned, and Paid.
Note: If Engage is not apart of your Meltwater Subscription, you will only be able to connect Monitored Social Accounts.

Connecting Social Accounts Based on Your Meltwater Subscription
If you have Engage in your Meltwater subscription, you’ll find Monitored, Owned, and Paid Connections.
If you do not have Engage in your Meltwater subscription, you will only see Monitored Connections.
All of these social connections can be found in your Account Settings:
Click the Account drop-down in the left-hand navigation bar.

Understanding the Difference Between Connected Social Accounts
Below is a breakdown of the differences between each type of social account:
Monitored Connections
Monitored Connections enables you to connect your social media accounts for enhanced social listening capabilities. Connecting Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) lets you track public social media posts across various tools, including Explore, Dashboards, Monitor, and Reports.
Connecting your social media profiles allows you to monitor public posts and gain valuable insights into your social media performance. With these connections, you can set up searches and benchmarks to track and compare your activity. Additionally, you can track competitors and hashtags, expanding your social listening scope.

Owned Connections
These connections are used in Engage to publish on, engage with, and measure your owned social accounts. By setting up your Owned Connections, you can streamline your social media management and improve your engagement with your audience.
You can connect the following Owned Social Accounts:
Paid Connections
Paid Connections are also used in Engage. These are connected to engage with and analyze your media ads. You can connect your Facebook and Instagram Paid Accounts.
