What is it?

Introducing Content Clusters, a new AI-powered widget in Explore!

Using a proprietary AI, Meltwater clusters related search results based on topic similarity and generates summaries for the cluster content. This helps by highlighting the most relevant content, quickly organizing similar stories, and summarizing the main points.

Each cluster can consist of any combination of News and Blogs content. If social content on Twitter or Reddit has shared a link to one of the docs contained within the cluster, then we retrieve them as additional context to the story.

What’s the value?

Faced with hundreds, if not thousands of pieces of content, human analysts are no match for AI. Further, when we try to read, understand, and process at this scale, we sacrifice time that we could instead spend contextualizing, deciding, and strategizing.

This AI clustering solution groups semantically similar content across news and social conversation into discernible themes. These are news themes or conversation topics that humans would otherwise miss due to lack of time or cognitive bias. From there, we generate concise summaries that explain the themes and surface representative content.

By automating the tedious process of reviewing and summarizing documents, we help with the lack of time and resources users face to provide a distillation of the main topics of search results. Saving users hours, and even days, of manually reading and summarizing content, while at the same time removing any cognitive bias, and even uncovering potentially unseen patterns and themes.

How does it work?

Content Clusters is a new AI-powered widget in Explore.

Using our proprietary AI, Meltwater clusters related search results based on topic similarity and generates summaries for the clustered content. Content Clusters help by highlighting the most relevant content, quickly organizing similar stories, and summarizing the main points. Source types include News, Blogs, Twitter, and Reddit.

The widget features the top 30 stories/clusters related to your search results, with pagination.

Each line/cluster includes two columns, sorted in descending order by mentions.

  • Ai-Generated Clusters - the AI-generated summarization of the main topic/theme related to the content

  • Mentions - the total number of news, blogs, Twitter, and Reddit documents that were clustered and summarized.

Clicking on a Content Cluster will open the slide-out content stream, filtered to show only the articles from that cluster. The content stream offers full functionality, including AI tags, searching, downloading, and more.

There is also an Analytics tab, which features four widgets filtered to the specific cluster, including mentions trend by hour, top locations, top keywords, and sentiment.

Finally, the Add filter option will copy the parameters for the specific Content Cluster to the Context filter in Explore, so you can expand your results with the other tabs available.
