This user guide is intended to assist you with using the Engage AI Writing Assistant in Meltwater Engage (Publishing + Conversations). For an article outlining all of publish, see here. Conversations, see here.

What is the Meltwater Engage AI Writing Assistant?

Meltwater Engage features an AI writing assistant powered by GPT-3, allowing you to take advantage of the latest advancements in generative AI to work faster, beat writer’s block, and formulate more engaging content!

What is AI?

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is the simulation of human intelligence in machines, especially computer systems. In simple terms, it is the ability of a computer or machine to understand and make decisions based on the information it receives. This can include tasks such as recognizing speech, understanding natural language, and making predictions.

What is GPT-3?

GPT-3 is "an artificial intelligence trained to assist with a variety of tasks." More specifically, though, it is a language model AI designed to produce human-like text and converse with people.

Practically, this means that to use GPT-3, you present the model with a query or request by entering it into a text box. The AI then processes this request and responds based on the information that it has available.

How does it work?

First, start with the Publishing composer or Conversations in Meltwater Engage.

Publishing Composer View

You must enter your copy into the compose box in order to use the AI assistant. Once you have written something, click "Use AI assistant".

Conversations View

AI Assistant in Conversations allows you to take full advantage of the latest advancements in generative AI to work faster, beat writer’s block, and formulate more engaging responses to your fans. Once you have written something, click "AI assistant".

A new screen will appear with your AI assistant and available prompts. See below for details on all options.

To the left are the five optimizations you have available to you. To the right, is the copy you already created, and the AI is asking you what to do next. From here, you either can choose from any of the five options to the left, or use one of the quick-pick options from below your prompt.

There are five optimization options to choose from: Change Tone, Translate, Improve Writing, Social Variations, and Marketing Models.

The three quick-pick options are: Create variations, Improve grammar, and Make more engaging.

After you have made a selection for what you want the AI assistant to do next, your prompt to the AI assistant will appear on the left, indicated by your initials, and the AI assistant will return three versions (except for Translate, and Marketing Models. These will only generate one version).

If you like any of the options and want to continue with the suggestion, click "Use this version" at the top of that option.

It will then indicate that is your Selected version, and you can click Use selected text to go back to the publisher to finish scheduling your post.

If you want to continue to iterate and change your post, first select one of the three AI-generated prompts available by clicking Use this version at the top.

Then, it will say Selected version, allowing you to make selections from the options to the left.

There is no limit to how many variations you can make.
