Setting Up Alerts with Microsoft Teams Integration

Automate your Alerts with Meltwater's Microsoft Teams integration

Introducing a delivery method to receive your Meltwater Alerts-Microsoft Teams! With the ability to push Alerts via a webhook integration in Workflows, your organization will receive your alerts in the most modern and convenient way.

This article will cover:

Teams Integration Overview

By enabling this integration right from the platform, you can begin receiving automated, AI-powered alerts sent directly to Teams. Having a centralized channel with all Alerts flowing in will allow teams to better collaborate and act on business-critical news, market shifts, trends, and competitive intelligence.

Teams' collaborative nature allows your organization to act quickly on market movements, alert relevant internal departments in a timely manner, and make better-informed decisions powered by rich insights.


Setting Up Your Microsoft Teams Integration via Workflows

  1. In Microsoft Teams, navigate to Chat in the left navigation and click + to create a new Teams channel. Every channel must be assigned to a Team, so select the Team, name the channel, and set it to Standard.

  2. Click the meatballs menu on the right and select Workflows

  3. Select or type “Post to a channel when a webhook request is received”

  4. The app has a valid connection if a checkbox is visible next to the Microsoft Teams organization account name. Click Next.

  5. Under Details, select the Microsoft Teams Channel you set up earlier. To save, click Add workflow.

  6. Now that the Workflow has been added successfully, copy the workflow URL.

  7. Now that the Microsoft Teams channel has been configured to receive messages from Meltwater, get ready to connect it in your Meltwater account. Navigate to Meltwater, click Account in the left navigation

  8. Select Third party integrations

  9. Scroll to Microsoft Teams and click Add Channel.

  10. Add a title for the connection name, preferably one that matches the name in Microsoft Teams.

  11. Paste the URL in the Workflow link section

  12. Click Save

  13. Now, it should appear under Teams Integration in the Meltwater Third-Party integrations page after you refresh the page.

  14. Navigate back to Teams, and click Done or refresh your channel.

  15. Click on the meatballs menu and select Workflows.

  16. Click Manage at the bottom.

  17. Click the kebab menu to the right of the Flow name (Post to channel when a webhook request is received).

  18. Click Edit

  19. Click Send each adaptive card

  20. Click Post card in chat or channel

  21. Click Post As Flow Bot and change it to User

  22. Click Save. You’ve set up your workflow successfully.

  23. To connect your alerts to this channel, navigate to Meltwater

  24. Click Alerts

  25. Select Create or edit an existing alert. Learn more about Getting Started with Alerts.

  26. Select the Microsoft Teams Channel in your Alert Details.

  27. Success! Your Meltwater alerts are now connected in Microsoft Teams


Creating an Alert to Receive Via Microsoft Teams

Now that you have Microsoft Teams connected to Meltwater, it is time to create and add alerts to receive in your Teams’ channels. Follow the below steps to do so:

  1. Click Alerts on the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Click Create Alert

  3. Select the Alert Type you would like to create

  4. Click Next

  5. Once you’ve added the searches you want to include in the alert, navigate to the Microsoft Teams section

  6. Click the drop-down arrow

  7. Select the check box next to the channel you want to send the alert to

  8. Click Save


Retirement of Legacy Microsoft Teams (Office 365 Connectors)

Microsoft has announced the retirement of Office 365 connectors for Microsoft Teams, effective May 31, 2025. After this date, any Meltwater alerts set up using Legacy Microsoft Teams connections will no longer be supported, and alerts may silently stop appearing in your Teams channels.

Understanding if You're Impacted

  1. Click the Account drop-down in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Third-Party Integrations

  3. Navigate to Microsoft Teams

  4. In the Legacy Alert Connections, if you have channels selected under Legacy Microsoft Teams, you are impacted.

Disabling Legacy Connectors

From Third-Party Integrations

  1. Click the Account drop-down in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Third-Party Integrations

  3. Navigate to Microsoft Teams

  4. Deselect any options labeled as Legacy Alert Connections

From Alerts

  1. Click Alerts in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Hover over the alert that currently has the Delivery method of Microsoft Teams

  3. Click Edit

  4. Deselect any options labeled as Legacy Alert Connections
