Getting Started with Newsletter Analytics

Meltwater provides data and information about whether the newsletter was successfully delivered, if the recipient opened it, and if the recipient clicked anything in the newsletter.

Initial Analytics Set-Up

Sending newsletters through Meltwater allows you to access comprehensive analytics. These insights can help you better understand your audience, gauge the effectiveness of your content, and make data-driven decisions to enhance engagement rates.

Note: If you send newsletters from your personal email, we cannot track those analytics.

Before sending newsletters, you first need to verify your email and set yourself up as an approved sender. Follow the below steps to do so:

  1. Select the Account drop-down on the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Approved Senders

  3. Click Add new email account

  4. Fill in all required fields identified by an *

  5. Select Save

  6. Click OK

  7. Navigate to your email inbox and open the confirmation email from Meltwater

  8. Click Confirm Email

  9. You will then be brought back to the Approved sender section in your Meltwater account in a new tab

  10. Click OK.

Finding and Viewing Your Newsletter Analytics

Now that you're added as an approved sender and are sending newsletters like a pro, it's time to dive deeper and explore the rich analytics Meltwater offers. These insights are crucial for understanding your audience's engagement and refining your strategy for even better results.

To find your Newsletter analytics, follow these steps:

  1. Click Newsletters on the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select View All

  3. Select the name of the newsletter to open the list of distributions

    Note: As long as a newsletter has been sent, you will have access to analytics.

  4. Hover over the newsletter distribution

  5. Select View Analytics


Newsletter Analytics Definitions

METRIC

DEFINITION

Sent

The number of recipients who were sent a newsletter.

Delivered

The count of recipients who successfully received the newsletter in their inbox.

Delivered Rate

The percentage of newsletter recipients who received the newsletter. A delivery rate of less than 100% indicates that some recipients are not being successfully reached.

Opened

The number of recipients who opened the newsletter and scrolled to the bottom of the email.

Open Rate

The percentage of unique recipients who opened the newsletter.

Clicked

The number of recipients who clicked at least one link or article in the newsletter.

Click Rate

The percentage of recipients who clicked on a link or article in the newsletter (recipients who clicked on an article or link/recipients who were sent the newsletter).
