What is the Klear Influence Score?

The Klear Score is an overall influence indicator that is calculated using multiple variables and Klear's proprietary AI algorithm. We take into account many variables including the influencers' following, reach, quality of engagement rate and audience quality to name a few factors. Collectively, this information is used in Klear's algorithm to assign each influencer a Klear Score from 1-100.

It is important to keep in mind that a given Klear Score is not “good” or “bad” in its own right but rather is used to assign an influencer into their category of influence (Celebrity, Power User, Micro, Nano) and to provide a reference point for comparing between influencers.

What timeframes do you measure your engagement rates by?

Instagram: 6 months

Twitter: All time

Youtube: 1 year

Facebook: All time

Why could the True Reach be higher than the audience number?

True Reach is not only based on the influencer’s followers, but the total reach of the influencer’s content. This can include viewers who are not followers, if a post goes viral or if users come across the post through the Discover feature on social media, for example. A higher true reach is common among influencers who get a high engagement rate. For example, an influencer with above a 7% engagement rate of their fan base, will usually be close to, if not higher than the follower count.

How does Klear calculate engagement rates?

Klear calculates the engagement rate based on content in the last 6 months relative to the number of posts the influencer creates. If they're posting 10's of posts a day, we'll use 100's of posts in a given month to calculate that average. We are averaging based on the general audience of the influencer rather than the True Reach- this is done to keep the rate standard with industry practice.

Keep in mind, for those rare influencers who are posting very little content (less than 28 posts in the last 6 months), the engagement rate is an all-time average and based on content from when the influencer first created their Instagram account.

What is the formula used to calculate engagement rates?

A sum of the six month average for each type of engagement for the given network (likes, comments, retweets, replies) divided by the total number of fans for that network. For YouTube it is based on average likes and comments divided by total number of fans, and does not include the average number of views.

What is the difference between the most popular hashtag and the most relevant hashtag?

The most popular hashtags are the most common hashtags used by the audience of this influencer (For example, for a vegan influencer you’ll find #vegan or #crueltyfree). The most relevant ones are the hashtags that are more unique and relate the most for this specific audience, often helping us learn a bit more into their more specific interests (like #plantbased, #whatveganseat, or #gofruityourself).

An influencer profile on Klear says "they participate in influencer pods". What does that mean?

This means the influencer is a part of a POD with other influencers. They barter with other influencers to increase engagement for their posts.
