This article will guide you through all the areas of account set-up to help successfully kick off your business' Meltwater journey. We recommend partnering this guide with our Get Started as a New User!
Set Up Fundamentals for all accounts
Set Up details for additional features
Within the Account Settings section of the platform, we'll start your account set-up by adding your team members as users within Manage Users.
Take Action! Add users to the platform and be sure to assign their relevant timezone. Check out this product tutorial which will walk you through the steps on your screen!
Once a user has been saved, an invitation email will be automatically distributed to them including prompts to set up their own password. You can learn more about User settings within our dedicated article here.
If you'll be using Meltwater monitoring to track social media or gain insights into the Social Echo of online articles shared across social media, you'll need to connect your Facebook and Instagram business profiles under Social Connections.

Spending time now to ensure your search's keywords and topics are meeting your monitoring needs will help ensure that your account runs smoothly. This may take some brainstorming with your team to come up with a list of all the news topics you'll need to stay up to date on.
Take Action! To get started, review the search folders already saved within your account. Depending on your package, you may have one of the following monitoring tools. Launch your list of search folders by clicking your tools name:
Now that you're familiar with the searches already saved within your account, you can start creating new searches you'll need. Check out the following on-screen tour on how to create a new search folder within Search or learn about new search folder within Explore via our dedicate article here.
Looking for ideas on what to search for? here are a few topic areas we suggest monitoring for to get you started!
1. Brand Name & Spokespeople
This type of search would typically monitor brand name's abbreviations, product names, spokespeople's names, company websites, social media handles, addresses of offices/key locations, ect.
2. Competitors or other Businesses of Interest
This type of search would typically monitor your competitors brand names, product names, spokespeople, social media handles, ect.
3. Industry Topics
This type of search would typically monitor broader keywords or topics relating to your industry, such as general product or service-related terms. E.g. If your business is a university, we'd recommend monitoring industry topics such as 'international students' or 'student loans'.
Take action! If you've created a large list of new searches or keywords to be added into the platform, you can share these with our Support team to be added. Please be as specific as possible when sending your request through to email@example.com. They'll be sure to confirm with you if further details are needed in the keyword set-up.
Report Settings & Notifications
Now that you've added searches and users, you can set up automated email reports to share the news coverage to your users via Digest Reports.
Take Action! Create and update your digest reports. Check out this product tutorial which will walk you through the steps.
Each of your users will need to download the Meltwater Mobile app to their devices to enable instant alerts from crucial search folders and interactive news summaries which can be customized on the go.
Email Deliverability Settings
We strongly recommend updating your email server settings to ensure all the emails sent from the Meltwater platform arrive in your inbox without being stopped by your email security. As our system can be set to send regular emails, these can be sent to your spam filter.

If you have an additional tool that sends emails from our system with your email address (such as a press releases), there will be additional details to share with your IT specialist. Please review details under your additional tool set-up further down in this article.
Get started with your media analytics by creating a Dashboard that aligns with your insights and reporting requirements. If you need to generate a media report such as a quarterly media trend analysis or benchmarking your performance against competitors, we recommend doing the set-up these dashboards during your onboarding.
Dashboards are built from your pre-configured Searches, so make sure you have a saved search monitoring for the keywords or topics of interest before starting a new dashboard.

Set up details for Additional Features
Let's get your Newsletter ready to be shared! As the newsletter is one of Meltwater's customizable dissemination tools, there are a few important set-up steps we need to complete before sending out your news coverage.
Take Action! Add the email address which will be used as the Approved Sender. Check out this product tutorial which will walk you through these steps on your screen!
Once you've set up at least one Approved Sender, you'll need to reach out to your IT specialist for assistance with Whitelisting our CNET sending records. Take Action! Share your Approved Sender CNET records with your IT specialist. You can check out where to find these records in this article here.
While your IT team is looking into the email server settings and whitelisting, you are ready to get started with your newsletter template design. Typical newsletter templates will include your company logo and a banner image that aligns with your branding colors. These templates are designed by you and then assembled by our technical team using HTML coding. For example, if you share a brief structure and images you'd like included, our team can create the final design.
Take Action! Share a layout description, your logo, branding colors and any images to be included in your newsletter's template design with our Support team at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Influencers and Press Release Outreach
It is always best to set up your media lists, approved senders and press release template well before your first release is due to be sent.
Take Action! Share your press release template with our Support team via email@example.com.

Now that your template and approved senders are being set in the platform, let's start building some media lists!
